Sometimes criticised for his jumping style, at times Kauto is spectacular particularly on his favoured better ground. He does, however, occasionally get it wrong particularly at the end of a race when at full tilt with a string of last fence blunders to his name, a fact that is seldom missed by the media or commentators when it comes to the build-up to the next race.
It is therefore remarkable that Kauto Star has only fallen on four occasions including once where he was remounted and finish a close second. These errors should not detract from the wonderful achievements of this fantastic horse that the racing public has been very privileged to see on Britain’s racecourses over the past six seasons.
The 2009/2010 Season promises to be as encapsulating as ever for Kauto Star. We will undoubtedly see this very publicly owned horse back in training with a light campaign very likely this year and just three important races on the agenda. Firstly, at Haydock Park on Saturday, 21 November 2009 as a preparation for a fourth crack at the King George VI Chase when Kauto will bid to emulate the flying grey Desert Orchid and capture his fourth Boxing Day feature at Kempton Park.
All roads will then lead to The Cheltenham Festival in March and a bid to join the greats such as Arkle and Best Mate in winning Steeplechasings Blue ribbon, The Cheltenham Gold Cup, for a third time. Lets hopefully see Kauto Star vs Denman to see who can win in 2010.
